Membership

Welcome!

We are an intentionally inclusive community that welcomes people of all races, religious backgrounds, cultural origins, and sexual orientations. Visitors are welcome to attend all presentations, events and social activities.

Once you get to know the members, have participated in several events and social action activities and conclude that the philosophy of Ethical Humanism and Ethical Culture is consistent with your values and how you live your life, it will be natural to take the next step and explore membership.

Who may join?

Membership is open to anyone who is at least 15 years of age and an active, contributing member of our community. The nature and extent of participation at meetings, social action, committees and other activities depends upon individual needs and interests.

Those wishing to join will fill out an application for membership which will be presented for action by the Membership Committee and by the Board.

All members make an annual financial pledge to support EHSA activities and outreach, but no one is excluded from membership based on financial circumstances.  You stipulate the amount and whether you wish to contribute in installments or in a lump sum.

Why join the EHSA?

It is inspiring to experience a culture that challenges us personally, celebrates life’s joys, is supportive to other members during all the stages of life, and cultivates ethical growth and action in its members and in the community around us.

Members may vote in elections and referendums put before the membership, attend Board meetings, propose amendments to the organization and by-laws of EHS Asheville and serve on EHSA committees. They are also members in the American Ethical Union (AEU).
