Presented by Joe Chuman
We will hear from Dr. Joe Chuman, who addressed the unprecedented events of the past week in his January 10th platform presentation as Leader of the New York Society for Ethical Culture. He presented a perspective on the crisis and a look ahead for positive signs on which to place our hope. He also suggested what we can do to help ensure a better future. We will hear his presentation and discuss among ourselves.
Dr. Joe Chuman has been an Ethical Culture Leader in NY and NJ since the mid 70’s. As an activist, Dr. Chuman has worked on behalf of human rights and civil liberties and in opposition to the death penalty, as well as many other progressive causes. He founded the Northern New Jersey group of Amnesty International in 1974, and currently serves as president of the Bergen County Sanctuary for Asylum Seekers, founded by the Ethical Culture Society of Bergen County, which provides services for asylum seekers who are released from federal detention.
