Ceremonies

Ethical Humanist Celebrants

Ethical Humanist Celebrants are trained and licensed to perform weddings, funerals and other ceremonies.  As the “clergy” of Ethical Humanist Societies and Ethical Culture Societies, celebrants are authorized under the law to perform weddings. If you have any questions about the authorization of a celebrant, you may contact the AEU office for clarification.

Ceremonies

Weddings: Ethical Humanist weddings respect the individuality of each member of a couple as well as the ethical commitment of marriage. Click for more information on weddings.

Baby-naming: Ethical Humanist baby-naming ceremonies introduce a child formally to family, friends, and community, and recognize that child as a unique person of worth and dignity in the larger human family.

Coming of Age: Ethical Humanist Coming of Age ceremonies celebrate the development of a teenager into adulthood with assistance from mentors from the Ethical Humanist Society community.

Memorials: Ethical Humanist memorials honor the life and individuality of the person who has died as well as the grief and feelings of those who remain.

Policies: Availability, Fees

Either all or a portion of the honoraria for officiating ceremonies are contributed to the Ethical Humanist Society of Asheville, a 501(c)(3) organization. Please contact the Ethical Humanist Society of Asheville regarding availability of Officiants and Leaders, fees and other arrangements:
